The 2016-2017 academic year saw us launch a new course offering, a combination of literature studies and composition (more accurately, storytelling). We used The Hero’s Journey as the framework for our endeavors throughout the year. Each semester, the students developed one long-format story. The first semester, they created a creative non-fiction story about a hero (known or unknown) of their choice. The second semester was devoted to the development of fiction stories which depict the hero’s journey. Below are links to examples of student work.
